Oh, Lonesome Me
by Don Gibson
"It must have been
the mood or the way I was feeling. The period of time I
was going through had a reflection on me, the way I
felt. So I sat down and started writing a melody and
singing the words. Originally, it was 'Ole Lonesome Me.'
When I gave it to the publisher they interpreted it to
be 'Oh, Lonesome Me,' but I just let it stand. It was
printed that way on the sheet music and record and it
was too late to change it back."
—Don Gibson
Oh, Lonesome Me
Ev'rybody's goin' out and havin' fun
I'm just a fool for stayin' home and havin' none
I can't get over how she set me free
Oh, lonesome me.
A bad mistake I'm makin' by just hangin' round
I know that I should have some fun and paint the town
A lovesick fool that's blind and just can't see
Oh, lonesome me.
I'll bet she's not like me, she's out and fancy free
Flirting with all the boys with all her charms
But I still love her so, and brother, don't you know
I'd welcome her right back here in my arms.
Well, there must be some way i can lose these lonesome
blues
Forget about the past and find somebody new
I've thought of ev'rything from A to Z
Oh, lonesome me.
