Walking The Floor Over You
by Ernest Tubb

"I was living in Fort Worth, Texas, and had a sponsored radio program on KGKO. I had worked my way up from ten dollars a week on the radio. This was in 1941. I had just written 'Walking The Floor Over You,' and Dave Kapp happened to be in town with his recording equipment, so we set up a date. I had four songs altogether, and Dave liked 'I Wonder Why You Said Goodbye' and I wanted to release it next. But I said, 'Mr. Kapp, do me a favor and release "Walking The Floor Over You" next and I'll never ask you another favor.' Well, he agreed, and that record was such a hit I guess I'm the only Decca artists who has picked all my releases since 1941." —Ernest Tubb

Walking The Floor Over You

You left me and you went away,
You said that you'd be back in just a day,
You've broken your promise and you left me all alone,
I don't know why you did dear, but I do know that you're gone.

I'm walking the floor over you,
I can't sleep a wink that is true.
I'm hoping and I'm praying as my heart breaks right in two,
Walking the floor over you.

Now darling you know I love you well,
I love you more than I can ever tell,
I thought that you wanted me and always would be mine,
But you went and left me here with troubled mind.

Now someday you may be lonesome too,
Walking the floor is good for you.
Just keep right on walking and it won't hurt you to cry,
Remember that I love you and I will until I die.
